Tulsa Home Intrusion: Resident Shoots Ex-Boyfriend After Forced Entry

-

Tulsa homicide detectives have released a resident without charges following a fatal shooting of 27-year-old Sean Six, who allegedly forced his way into a home where his former girlfriend was staying. Police report that Six attempted to enter through a window before kicking in the front door, prompting a friend of the woman to fire a single, fatal shot in self-defense.

TULSA, OK — An early morning home intrusion in South Tulsa has left one man dead and a household reeling from a violent confrontation. Around 2:45 a.m. on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, Tulsa Police Department (TPD) officers were dispatched to a residence near 124th Terrace and Kingston Avenue following reports of a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers discovered 27-year-old Sean Six suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. Six was transported to a local hospital but later succumbed to his injuries. According to TPD homicide detectives, Six had targeted the home because his former girlfriend was staying there with a friend. Investigators believe Six initially attempted to gain entry through a window before successfully kicking in the front door.

A Clear Case of Castle Doctrine

Once inside the residence, Six was confronted by the woman’s friend, who was armed with a firearm. The resident fired a shot as Six entered, ending the intrusion. The individual who discharged the weapon was taken to police headquarters for an interview and was later released as the evidence appeared to support a claim of self-defense.

Under Oklahoma’s “Stand Your Ground” and “Make My Day” laws, a resident has the legal right to use deadly force against an intruder who has forcibly entered their home. As of Wednesday morning, no arrests have been announced, and the investigation remains open to finalize the details of the encounter.

Safety Tip: A “multi-stage” entry, where an intruder tries a window before moving to a door, is a clear indicator of a determined and potentially violent threat. If you are a homeowner and hear someone attempting to breach your perimeter at 2 a.m., your priority is to secure a defensive “funnel” while your partner or guest calls 911. In Oklahoma, the law is heavily on the side of the resident when a door is kicked in, but your tactical goal should always be to maintain distance. If you are a concealed carry holder, ensure your home-defense firearm is equipped with a weapon-mounted light so you can clearly identify the intruder and ensure they are not a family member or non-threat before making the split-second decision to fire.
