Viridian RFX1 Optic Install On Smith & Wesson Bodyguard 2.0 PC Carry Comp

-

If you’re thinking about upgrading your Smith & Wesson Bodyguard 2.0 Performance Center Carry Comp with a Viridian RFX1, this video walkthrough shows exactly how I removed the factory rear sight and installed the new purpose-built optic.

I started by field stripping the pistol and placing the slide in my ATG Heavy Duty Universal Pistol Dovetailed Rear Sight Pusher Tool. The factory rear sight on the Bodyguard 2.0 is set in a tight dovetail that doesn’t budge easily — you can see in the video how much force is required and hear it finally break free. Once the rear sight was removed, I dropped the RFX1’s dedicated dovetail mounting plate into the rear sight notch.

The RFX1 optic itself then sits directly on top of that plate and secures with two screws that thread into the dovetail plate. After adding some Blue Loctite, using my Wheeler Torque Wrench, I torqued those screws to 15 lb-ft. To help monitor for any loosening during shooting sessions, I marked the screw heads with a silver paint marker.

That was essentially it for the install. The next step is to get to the range to zero the optic and put some rounds through it for accuracy and durability testing — keep an eye out for that review soon.

Viridian RFX1 Micro Reflex Sight for Bodyguard 2.0 — Key Details

The Viridian RFX1 is notable because it’s one of the first micro green dot optics engineered specifically for the Smith & Wesson Bodyguard 2.0 slide and dovetail — no slide milling or gunsmithing required. It uses a dedicated mounting insert that replaces the factory rear sight and locks into the existing dovetail channel.

Optic Specifications (from retailer data):

  • Reticle: 3 MOA green dot
  • Activation: INSTANT-ON® motion sensor with auto shutoff
  • Brightness: Auto-adjusting via built-in ambient light sensor
  • Battery: 1 × CR1632, up to ~30,000 hours life
  • Lens: ~16 mm fully multi-coated glass with unlimited eye relief
  • Housing: Machined aluminum, shockproof up to ~1000 Gs, IPX4 water-resistant
  • Dimensions: ~1.63″ L × 0.81″ W × 1.02″ H
  • Weight: ~0.53 oz / ~15 g
  • Fitment: Custom-designed for Smith & Wesson Bodyguard 2.0
  • Finish: Matte black
  • Warranty: Limited lifetime

The compact green dot offers fast target acquisition without the bulk of larger units, and the automatic brightness adjustment helps keep the reticle visible in changing light conditions.

What This Means in Practice

This install gives the Bodyguard 2.0 a modern aiming solution without sacrificing concealability or requiring permanent modifications. Once zeroed, a micro green dot can make faster sight acquisition and follow-up shots more intuitive than factory iron sights. I’ll put this setup through its paces at the range and report back with accuracy and reliability feedback.
