CHICAGO, IL – A homeowner with a concealed carry license shot a burglary suspect early Saturday morning after confronting the man inside a garage in Chicago’s Bridgeport neighborhood, according to authorities.

Police said officers responded around 2:39 a.m. to a report of a burglary in progress along South Loomis Street near West 31st Street.

Investigators said a 59-year-old man had entered a garage when he was confronted by the homeowner. During the encounter, the homeowner fired a gun.

The suspect was struck in the right calf. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was listed in good condition.
