If you carry a gun, you have already made a decision about how far you are willing to go to protect yourself and the people around you. The harder question is whether you actually understand what that decision might one day demand of you.
That gap is exactly why we’re bringing Ed Monk to ConcealedCarry.com for a live webinar on July 16th. Let me tell you how it came together.
How I ended up chasing down Ed Monk
I bought Ed’s book last year. Not because I knew him, I didn’t, but because every professional I pay attention to had been talking about his work and his research for several years. When the people who actually understand this subject keep pointing at the same guy, you pay attention. By then it was pretty clear he had become the subject matter expert on active shooter events.
Then this spring I got to sit through a two hour lecture he gave in Texas. I went in curious. I walked out impressed, and I don’t hand that out freely.
Three things stood out.
First, the data. He has gathered a remarkable amount of it, often despite real resistance, and he presents it clearly enough that you actually grasp what it means. Second, the takeaways. These weren’t vague platitudes. They were specific, articulable lessons pulled straight from that data. Third, he is flat out polished as a presenter. The material is heavy, but he never lets it feel that way.
So I did the obvious thing and asked him to give that same presentation to our students, our following, and our customers. He said yes.
What you’ll actually walk away with

Here’s my honest pitch. After this session you will understand the reality of active shooter events better than almost anyone else around you, at work, at church, or frankly anywhere in society.
You’ll understand the timing of these events and why time is the thing that matters most. You’ll understand how law enforcement actually responds. You’ll understand the mindset and the relatively predictable behavior of the person carrying out the attack.
And most important, you’ll understand what makes a response effective. Fair warning, the answers may not be what you expect.
Along the way Ed covers:
- Who you are statistically most likely to face in a real attack
- How your environment shapes your movement, your decisions, and your outcome
- Why time is the single biggest factor in how many people get hurt
- The skills and performance standards that genuinely hold up under pressure
- How stress, what Ed calls “the monkey,” wrecks your ability to think and act
- Why the handgun already on your hip is more than enough gun when it’s used correctly
- The engagement considerations you should already be training for
It’s a practical, grounded look at what it takes to perform when seconds are the whole game.
The details, and the cover charge
The webinar is live on July 16th, 2026 at 8:00 PM Eastern. Plan on about 90 minutes. It’s online, so you can attend from wherever you are.
Now about the price. Ed’s time is valuable, and I wasn’t going to ask him to give it away. Guardian Nation members get in free as part of their membership, and the recording drops into the member area afterward for review. Everyone else pays a $5 cover charge.
Every dollar of those fees goes straight to Ed Monk. We aren’t making a cent on this. Five bucks to spend an evening with the man who wrote the book on this subject is, in my opinion, the easiest yes you’ll make this month.
Reserve your spot
This is a one night, live event. If countering an active shooter is something you’ve thought hard about, or worse, something you’ve quietly tried not to think about, this is the session to be in. If for any reason you are unable to attend at that date/time consider joining Guardian Nation so you can have access to the recording.

Bring your questions. Leave the assumptions at the door.
