Open borders attract criminals. The shootings in Surrey show that Canada has lost control of its border even as the US has taken charge of its borders. Canadians may have good reasons to dislike President Trump (like arbitrary tariffs), but his administration protects the American public by deporting violent criminals.
Historically, both countries grew strong thanks to immigrants. Legal immigrants. Unfortunately, not all immigrants have a strong work ethic or high moral standards. Criminals and terrorists are not welcome. Allowing criminals or terrorists free reign inside a country is a recipe for disaster.

Border Control: Trump vs Carney
Controlling borders is crucial for sovereignty. Open borders are incompatible with a generous welfare state. Both the US and Canada value immigrants, almost all of whom are decent people who want to contribute to their new country. Effective border controls are vitally important to screen immigrants and only admit those who are committed to supporting themselves.
Carney’s Canada
Thanks to the Liberals, Canada’s borders aren’t secure. Not only did Ottawa let in thousands of immigrants [over 25,000] from dangerous countries without even attempting to screen them, but Ottawa doesn’t even know how many foreign “visitors” illegally refuse to leave after their temporary visas expire. According to Ottawa:
“There are no accurate figures representing the number or composition of undocumented migrant population in Canada, estimates range between 20,000 and 500,000 persons.”
Violent foreign criminals contribute to Canada’s increasing violent crime. When foreigners are arrested for committing crimes in Canada, they often exploit the rules to declare refugee status. Canada Border Service is investigating hundreds of foreign “visitors” accused of extortion for extradition from the country. Of course, thanks to the Liberals, they are likely to get bail so they are out to commit even more crimes.
Why hasn’t the government installed effective procedures to keep track of foreign visitors? Most visitors may be benign, but too many are violent criminals. It may surprise Liberals, but criminals are not willing to obey the law. If we don’t keep track, how can we keep Canadians safe?
Can we trust the RCMP?
Not only did the RCMP inadvertently allow unauthorized individuals access to the personal information of over 2 million licenced firearms owners, but they hid the error for five years. Hundreds of corrupt RCMP officials are identified each year. How many go undiscovered?
Gang killings are increasing. In Vancouver murders have increased by 130% in just 5 years since 2021 … And by over 180% since 2014. Violent extortion threats in Surrey spur calls for vigilante justice.
Carney’s Liberals are soft on violent criminals.
Since 2015, StatsCan reports that violent crime has increased across the board (2015-2024)
Gang crime has soared by 208%,
Gang-related B&Es have escalated over 400%.
Homicides have grown by 29%;
Firearm charges (use of, discharge, pointing firearm) have doubled by 131%;
Organized crime poses a serious threat to Canadians, but the so-called buyback targets responsible citizens, not violent criminals. RCMP vetted citizens who own their firearms legally rarely misuse their firearms, according to StatsCan data.
President Trump
The US has (finally) regained control of its borders. President Trump’s administration has removed illegal immigrants in record numbers. See the ICE dashboard.
The result? Violent crime has plummeted. The FBI reports large drop in murder and in other violent crimes.
The Trump administration has worked to stop unscrupulous states from certifying dangerous truck drivers who were in the country illegally, many of whom didn’t even speak English.
US crime rates have dropped in the past few years; particularly in 2025. Crime had been decreasing but the drop accelerated in 2025/24. Both violent and non-violent crime (e.g. property crime) fell in 2025.

Open borders attract criminals
One reason for the drop in crime rates is a massive decrease in illegal immigrant criminals – -illegal border crossings have been blocked and ICE is removing the “worst of the worst.” President Trump is revived the strict border policies of previous presidents Bush and Obama – Biden was a disgusting exception.
Removing the worst of the worst massively reduces crime rates. In the US, 83% of released offenders are re-arrested.
Another reason for the drop in violent crime is armed civilians. The number of armed Americans continue to grow, and armed civilians are effective in stopping violent criminals. Armed civilians stop more active shooting attacks than do police.
Elections matter
As you know, Carney’s Liberals managed a narrow minority government in last year’s elections, so Canadians continue to suffer from Justin Trudeau’s “soft on criminals” policies – including the infamous gun grab.
In contrast, Americans rejected the Democrats “soft on criminals” approach by electing Trump with a whopping majority in the Electoral College (312 to 226); in doing so, he also won the popular vote — garnering over 2 million more votes than his opponent. Showing that Trump’s policies are popular, Americans also give the Republicans control of both houses of Congress.
Can Canadians dump the Liberals?
We’ll see. Elections are hard to predict.
