SHREVEPORT, LA — Two 22-year-old men are charged with attempted second-degree murder after Shreveport police say they followed a man who was making Uber deliveries, chased him onto a dead-end road, and opened fire on his vehicle. The driver fired back. More than 60 rounds were fired in all.
Officers responded on Oct. 3 to reports of gunfire near Youree Drive and East Dalzell, as reported by KSLA. They recovered evidence at that location and identified multiple crime scenes connected to the same incident.
During the investigation, officers stopped a vehicle seen leaving the area at a high rate of speed with no headlights on. Inside, they found Cadarius Bumcon with three gunshot wounds.
Investigators determined that Bumcon and Deangelo Robinson had allegedly been following the man while he worked his delivery route, police said. The driver tried to get away. He ran out of road. Police say that when he reached the dead end, Bumcon and Robinson began firing at his vehicle. The driver returned fire as the encounter continued.
He tried to leave first. The street he turned onto gave him nowhere to go and no way to put distance between himself and the car behind him. By the time police say the shooting started, driving away was no longer an option.
Officers and detectives processed the scenes and recovered shell casings, a ski mask, and gloves along with other evidence, according to police.
Robinson admitted to his involvement after being advised of his rights, police said. Bumcon declined to give a statement. Both men were charged with attempted second-degree murder. Police said a booking photo for Bumcon was not available.

Those charges are allegations. Both men are presumed innocent unless convicted, and prosecutors will make the final call on how the case proceeds. The only charges police announced in this incident were filed against Bumcon and Robinson.
If you deliver for a living, you are working a job that puts a stranger’s address, a parked car, and a dark street into your night over and over again. Watch what is behind you between stops. If the same headlights keep turning when you turn, call 911 while you are still moving, stay on well-lit main roads, and do not let an unfamiliar street decide where your night ends. Route awareness is mindset, not gear, and it is the part of this that was available to the driver long before anything else was.
