Why Shooters Want the Prodigy Gear Pac
The Prodigy is Springfield’s entry into the double-stack 1911 category—what most shooters casually call a 2011-style pistol. You get the short, clean single-action trigger and natural ergonomics of a 1911 without being limited to a seven- or eight-round single-stack magazine.
The five-inch model is a full-size, steel-framed pistol built for the range, competition and home defense. It is large and heavy for concealed carry, but that same weight, long sight radius and bull barrel make it exceptionally easy to control when shooting quickly.
The RFX11 deserves special attention because Springfield installs it at the factory. It is a compact polymer-housed optic rather than a $500 competition dot, but it gives the buyer a usable 3-MOA green dot immediately. If you eventually want a larger-window Holosun, Trijicon or other optic, the Prodigy’s AOS plate system leaves that door open.
