Steiner is giving its enclosed-emitter pistol optic an update.
The company has officially unveiled the MPS 2.0, the next generation of its Micro Pistol Sight. It brings a handful of practical improvements while keeping the rugged design that made the original MPS popular with duty users and serious shooters.
Rather than reinventing the wheel, Steiner focused on refining the details.
One of the biggest changes is battery life. The MPS 2.0 now delivers more than 90,000 hours of runtime on a CR2032 battery at Level 4 brightness, with over 27,000 hours at Level 5. Shooters can also enable a 13-hour auto-off mode to squeeze even more life out of the battery.
Steiner also addressed something every red dot owner eventually deals with: changing batteries.
The new optic features a magnetic battery cover that holds the battery in place during installation. It makes swaps a little less frustrating whether you’re at the range or working off the tailgate of your truck.
The controls also got an overhaul. Larger brightness buttons are easier to find and use with gloves. And a new button lockout feature prevents accidental brightness changes by locking the controls with a five-second press.
Like its predecessor, the MPS 2.0 uses an enclosed emitter, a design many shooters prefer because it keeps rain, mud, lint and debris away from the emitter. It’s housed in a reinforced metal body with a recessed viewing window and is rated waterproof to 35 meters. Steiner says it’s built to operate in temperatures ranging from -40°F to 140°F.
The optic uses the increasingly common ACRO footprint, making it compatible with many optics-ready pistols and mounting systems already on the market. Steiner also says it’s equally at home on defensive carbines, SBRs and shotguns for shooters who want one optic across multiple platforms.
The MPS 2.0 features a 3.3 MOA red dot, true 1x magnification and an 21×16 mm viewing window.
It weighs just 2.32 ounces and offers 90 MOA of both windage and elevation adjustment.
The new optic carries an MSRP of $631.99 and is backed by Steiner’s Heritage Warranty, which provides lifetime coverage without requiring a receipt or product registration.
For shooters who liked the original MPS but wished for a little more battery life and a few quality-of-life improvements, the MPS 2.0 looks like a thoughtful evolution rather than a complete redesign.
